General Introduction
Kylie Pratt is
currently a card carrying member of the Futures Golf Tour (Official
Developmental Tour of the LPGA), and the ALPG (Australian Ladies Professional
Golf). After
qualifying for the tour in November 2001, Pratt resumed her third season as an
assistant coach following the conclusion of her college career in December, 1999.
Professional Career
After joining
the 2002 Futures Tour mid-season, Pratt finished 74th on the money list with a
stroke average of 73.29 (rank 28). In 10 tournaments she made 8 cuts,
posting a T6 as her best finish in her rookie season.
Collegiate Athletic Career
During her playing career, Pratt made an immediate impact on the squad
after moving to the United States
from Mackay, Australia, where she played for the Mackay Golf Club.
In the Spring of ’97, she played
in six tournaments (winning all six) for the Fighting Camels and earned all-tournament recognition
at the Trans America Athletic Conference Championship with a third place finish.
She went on to become a First Team All-TAAC selection and was a member of the
five-member squad that finished 14th in the nation at the NCAA
Championship. Prior to the national tournament, Pratt tied for second at the
regional event and placed on the all-region team. She also ended the season as
the 26th best player in the country.
The following year, Pratt earned her
second all-conference medal and was the runner-up at the league championship.
She posted five top six finishes and participated in the NCAA Eastern Regional
tournament.
As
a senior, she garnered National Golf Coaches Association Honorable Mention
recognition, as well as being voted Campbell’s Outstanding Female Athlete for the 1998-99 season.
In all, Pratt won four
titles that year, including the TAAC Championship, and was ranked 12th
nationally by Golfstat. She also finished 23rd in the race for the
prestigious Golfstat Cup (Individual National Ranking) while earning team MVP
honors. Along with 4 individual titles, Pratt also contributed to 20 team
titles during her collegiate career.
As a coach, Pratt assisted in 11 team
victories (including 2 conference titles), and 4 NCAA Regional tournament appearances.
Educational Background
Pratt
graduated from Campbell
in December ’99 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, and recently
completed her Masters in Education in December ’01 with a concentration in
Exercise Science.
Junior Athletic Highlights
Pratt was also a
member of the Bruce Cup (Primary School), and Pizzey Cup Teams (Secondary
School), and competed in many state and national tennis tournaments before
concentrating on golf after leaving Calen Secondary Department.
She also attended the University
of Queensland in 1995, studying Information and Technology before taking a year off to pursue a
college athletic scholarship to the United States.
Personal
Kylie’s older
sister, Nicole Pratt is currently ranked in the top 50 on the
WTA Tour.
She currently has 3 WTA doubles and 5 ITF singles titles.
Nicole also represented Australia at the 2002 Sydney Olympics and has been a permanent fixture on the Federation Cup
Squad 1998-2002. Parents, George and
Dorothy Pratt are cane farmers, and older siblings Greg and Kim still reside in the
Mackay area. Twin sister Kelly, an
accomplished junior tennis player herself lives and works in Mackay for Hodge
Industries (major implement provider to the cane farming industry).
Interests and Hobbies
Enjoys traveling, water-skiing, web-page
design, fishing, and reading (favourite author is Bryce Courtney).
